W Maldives is scheduled to reopen on March 01st, 2025 after 10 months of complete renovation. Its transformation marks it as the first W Hotel to implement the brand’s global rebranding initiative.
The change reflects W Hotels’ evolution towards a more sophisticated and romantic aesthetic, aligning with current luxury travel trends that favor understated elegance and a more relaxed vibe.
From the redesigned overwater and beach villas with private pools and stunning ocean views, to the more serene, earthy tones and natural materials used throughout, every detail of the resort has been meticulously transformed.

W Maldives’ new design reflects the updated aesthetic codes of the American luxury hotel brand, incorporating new colors. Moving away from the bold reds and high-energy hues, the design embraces more neutral and earthy tones, such as beige, sand, and soft browns—a recent trend in luxury travel.

The superb resort will feature 77 refurbished overwater and beach villas, each designed to seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living spaces.
The outdoor areas have been redesigned to maintain a strong connection with the tropical gardens and picture-perfect beach, with snorkeling remaining the key highlight of the water villas.

The bathrooms and bedrooms have been entirely redesigned, living the Let It Glow design for a more earthy approach.
Dining experiences have been reimagined with new concepts such as the Ocean-to-Table experience at FISH, offering fresh seafood, and Nikkei cuisine paired with Latin American cocktails at SIP.
Public spaces have also been enhanced to reflect the resort’s energetic spirit.

In line with W Hotels’ commitment to sustainability, W Maldives plans to eliminate single-use plastic bottles and amenities, install a bio-gas plant to recycle food waste into organic fertilizer and methane gas, and establish an in-house herb and fruit plantation by the end of 2025.
