It is with sadness that I heard today that Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives is closed for an indefinite period.
The magnificent resort we love so much has ceased operations for an indefinite period and will probably not reopen.
Why did Shangri-La’s Villingili closed?
Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa, Maldives, the first luxury resort south of the equator in the Maldives, opened on 26 July 2009.
We hope the resort will one day reopen its dreamy doors.
The resort apparently closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic that seriously affected the Maldives, living hundreds old employees without job ( most of the resort team is from Addu, Gan capital island).
