Located in North Male Atoll, Sangeli is a recent resort opened in 2018. The island stands out for the high quality of its all-inclusive formula, the comfort and design of the villas, its facilities and beautiful surroundings including one of the best snorkeling in Maldives.
The resort offers a premium All Inclusive package called Serenity Plan. OBLU Select at Sangeli is operated by Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, a brand which operates several All Inclusive resorts in Maldives.
Their philosophy : to provide a high quality service at a good price-quality ratio.

Oblu Select at Sangeli is located just over 50 km north of Male, on the northeast side of north Male Atoll. It takes approximately 55 minutes to get there by speedboat.

OBLU at Sangeli comprises of two islands located in a large lagoon surrounded by a rich house reef ideal for snorkeling.
Although the resort is new, the coconut trees are of a good size and the vegetation is quite dense, emphasizing its tropical aspect. Despite being quite close to each other, the villa privacy is preserved by the abundant vegetation around them.
The main Island

Sangeli main island, which is about 450m long and 150m at its widest point, is surrounded by a triangle shaped strip of added sand.
The main island houses most of the villas, the resort main restaurant The Courtyard and the pool bar The Sangs, the giant beach water slide, The Spice fine dining restaurant, the water sport center and most of the hotel common areas.
The One Banyan Island

A stone’s throw away in the lagoon is another islet called One Banyan Island. Partly reclaimed from the sea, this island is reserved for couples and houses a restaurant, a swimming pool reserved for adults only ( open for teens above 16 years old ), the resort spa and the highest villa categories, the beautiful Honeymoon Select Ocean Villas located overwater.

To get there, you can take the shuttle boat that crosses the lagoon or borrow a bicycle and go through the jetty that connects the two islands.
Ride your bike along the long jetty that connects the main island to the One Banyan.
OBLU Select at Sangeli. The Villas in review
Oblu Select at Sangeli includes 137 villas, with or without private pool, that come in 6 categories, located on the beach or overwater.
The villas are very well designed and surprisingly well furnished for a 4**** resort.
All villas are nicely decorated and very comfortable, each villa is independent and offers high ceiling and tasteful furniture.
Each villa location has its own color palette : blues in the overwater villas and greens in the beach Villas.
All rooms have a king size bed, a nice indoor lounge area, a deck with sun loungers, a large dressing room and are equipped with air conditioning, fan, tea and coffee making facilities, minibar included in the All Inclusive, safe, LCD flat screen TV, and Wi-Fi internet access.
OBLU at Sangeli Beach Villas
OBLU at Sangeli Beach Villas have a private beach and are located all around the island with lagoon or snorkeling access according to their location. Their bathrooms are semi-opened to the outside and have an outdoor shower and bathtub
The Beach Villas
The 39 Beach Villas are hidden in the vegetation on the large beach in the south of the island, facing the lagoon. Each villa has a small covered terrace equipped with a sofa. Two sun loungers are also available in front of the villa.

The deluxe Beach Villas

Located on the northern beach of Sangeli, the 14 Deluxe Beach Pool Villas are identical to the Beach Villas and benefit from a small swimming pool with lagoon views on their deck.

The Two Bedroom Beach Pool Suite Villas
For families, Sangeli offers 7 Two Bedroom Beach Pool Suites that include 2 bedrooms, each with an independent entrance. One of them has a double bed plus a bathroom with shower and bath, the other has twin beds with only a shower in the bathroom.
The interior living room is more spacious, as is the terrace which also benefits from a small swimming pool facing the sea.

OBLU at Sangeli Water Villas
OBLU at Sangeli Water Villas are located on the long jetty that connects the two islands. Almost identical in design and sizes, their differences reside in their views at the lagoon ( great for water sports ) or at the ocean ( with superb snorkeling access ). Some of them offer a pool.
The Water Villas
The 45 Water Villas are mostly located on the outside towards the interior of the atoll. The bathroom is bright with a shower that overlooks the sea, but closed, plus a bathtub.
On the floor, a glass bottom area allows you to admire the fishes attracted by the light in the evening. The deck is quite small but equipped with two sun loungers and a staircase that takes you to the lagoon.
The water is deep there, because they are located directly on the drop off of the reef. Those who would like a villa with less depth can request a villa overlooking the inner lagoon.

The Deluxe Overwater Pool Villas
The 26 Deluxe Overwater Pool Villa face the Sunset. The light at the end of the day is magnificent, it is a prime location, although you have a front row seat to observe the comings and goings of the boats in the lagoon. This category also benefits from a small swimming pool on the deck.

OBLU at Sangeli All inclusive Plan includes access to 3 restaurants and all bars.
Wines by the glass, beers, spirits, water, sodas and juices on a given selection are either ways included.
Other branded spirits are available at an additional cost. Drinks from your minibar are also included in your all-inclusive package.
Dining and drinks that are included in the OBLU at Sangeli All Inclusive Plan
The All Inclusive Serenity Plan grants access to the OBLU at Sangeli main restaurant, The Courtyard, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It also includes all drinks ( excepted branded spirits ), cocktails and mocktails.
During your stay, you also have access to a lunch or a dinner at each of the other two restaurants for a fine Dining experience

At the western end of the island, facing the ocean, you will find the overwater Rock Bar with its upper deck offering beautiful views at the sunset.

OBLU at Sangeli Fine Dining Eligibility depends on the total number of nights and is included per person per stay :
- 1 – 3 nights stay : One meal
- 4 –7 nights stay : Two meals
- 8 –11 nights stay : Three meals
- 12 nights and above stay: Four meals

Wake up with a yoga session on the beach, go windurf and paddle on the blue lagoon and finish your day with a spa before a cocktail at sunset with Live DJ sets.

What are the activities included in the all Inclusive Plan ?
Oblu Select at Sangeli All Inclusive Serenity Plan includes the following activities :
- One excursion per person stay
- One sunset fishing trip per person per stay
- Rental of snorkeling equipment
- Fully fledged gymnasium with regular fitness activities throughout the week
- Non-motorized water activities: windsurfing, paddle boarding, pedalos, kayaking.
- A 45 minutes Spa treatment (Subject to duration of the stay)
The following activities are not included :
The following water activities and excursions are not included in the All Inclusive Plan : water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, parasailing, catamaran, boat snorkeling, fishing. Lessons are also available at an additional cost.
OBLU at Sangeli also boasts 2 swimming pools. The main one, opened to ever guets, which offers a magnificent panorama at the surroundings and a more intimate one, located at The One Banyan Island, for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the young guests ( One Banyan Island swimming pool is not allowed for children under 16 ).
Self-service bicycles are available at several locations on the island.
Finally and probably the main attaction of OBLU at Sangeli is the snorkeling, one of the best of North Male Atoll. A Must-Do.

OBLU Select at Sangeli benefits of a beautiful and rich close-by snorkeling. The lagoon is very large, thus not suitable for snorkeling from everywhere ( remember the types of snorkeling islands in Maldives I presented you in my snorkeling guide ? ).
I classify Sangeli in the type 3 category for snorkeling, my favorite, the one with the dreamy DUO : a good snorkeling on one side and a large lagoon for sailing on the other. The best you can get in Maldives.
Where to snorkel around Sangeli Island ?

The most beautiful part of the house-reef is in front of the overwater villas that face the interior of the atoll. It is possible to get in the water at the entrance of the resort jetty or, for those staying in a Water Villa, to go snorkel directly from your deck.
Snorkeling equipment is included for each guest for the all stay. ( an equipment can cost up to 8 USD per person/per day ).
Diving
Sangeli diving center is managed by a European team assisted by Maldivian guides. Every day, trips for certified divers are organized to the dive sites of North Male Atoll. For beginners, it is possible to take lessons or simply make a diving initiation.
Sangeli surroundings offers great diving with an abundance of marine life to discover
The island surroundings offers an abundance of marine life to discover. The diving center organizes boat trips to the surrounding reefs and further in the Atoll.
2 dive trips are proposed on a daily basis in the morning and afternoon. The morning boat dive trips include 2 dives, and the afternoon boat dive trips, 1.
Night dives, Nitrox and private diving and private boat charters are available upon request. Remark : diving is not included in the Serenity Plan.
OBLU Select at Sangeli. The Spa
The Spa Elena Spa is located in a quiet area, on the One Banyan Island Surrounded by vegetation, the spa includes 6 treatment rooms, 6 double treatment rooms, yoga pavilion, steam room facilities. A large choice of massages and body treatments are also at the menu. The all inclusive plan includes a 45 minutes Spa treatment ( according to the length of your stay).
Elena Spa is present in all Atmosphere resort Collection including their Ultra Luxury property OZEN Life at Maadhoo and the more simple, yet excellent Luxury resort Atmosphere Kanifushi.

Sangeli Kids Club
OBLU at Sangeli offer a kids club for children aged from 4 years until 12.
The resort is a great choice with its Two Bedroom Beach Pool Suites and all-inclusive plan.
The Kids Club, which is very well designed, include a kids pool, an outdoor playground, board games, a playstation, as well as indoor animations for rainy days.
A babysitting service is available for children under 4 years old at additional cost ( approximately 12 USD per hour per child ).
