With the opening of The Chedi Kudavillingili in 2021, GHM will launch its first resort in the Maldives. Here is what we know so far about the new resort.
Initially scheduled to open in 2020, The Chedi Maldives should open during 2021. However, the official launch date is still undisclosed.
Until we have more available information, here is what we know so far about the resort.
The Chedi Maldives, The Resort at a glance
The Chedi Maldives is one of the latest project of General Hotel Management Ltd. (GHM), a Singapore based company. GHM boasts a collection of top luxury hotels and boutique resorts in Middle East and Europe with contemporary Asian design.

the Island
The Chedi Maldives is located on the island of Kudavillingili, on the east side of North Male Atoll at 30-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport.
The island is right in front of Chicken Surf break, and faces Thulusdhoo local island, one of the most famous surfing Island in Maldives.
Kuda Villingili, which was smaller before, now measures 1 km. The building process started around 2014 and the island got bigger after land reclamation.

The Resort Design
The Chedi Kudavillingili is designed by a global team of design talents working closely with the GHM team.
The island is shaped by a Maldivian company, the resort design and landscaping are created by a team from Singapore and the lighting scheme is handled by a USA based office.
The resort accommodation is split between 36 overwater villas 63 island based villas and will feature a central pool stretching 150 metres, an overwater spa, several dining options and various recreational opportunities.
The Villas
The Chedi Maldives will feature 99 contemporary villas including 36 overwater villas and 63 island-based villas.
This mixed-use resort development will offer four different accommodation types : beach villas (with plunge pool option), water villas and double-storey villas.
All villas will be proposed as residences for sale.
Dining options
The resort plans to offer an international mix centered on an array of Singaporean street food plus Indian, Thai, Mediterranean and Chinese flavors. A beach club and bar, an all-day dining restaurant and Hawkers Stalls featuring four live cooking stations will also be featured.
The Spa
The Chedi Kudavillingili will have an overwater spa with eight overwater treatment rooms dedicated to holistic journeys.
Leisure and Activities
Apart from snorkeling and diving , guests will also have the opportunity to surf on the close-by surf break Chicken. There will be a plethora of recreational opportunities from courts for several different sports to on-the-water and underwater activities.
UPDATE : The resort finally opened in June 2021 under the name Kuda Villingili Maldives Resort.
