The Maldives have a new airport : Kooddoo Airport in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
The new domestic hub will serve as the region main airport allowing faster transfers to Park Hyatt Maldives, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi and The Residence Maldives located in the Atoll.

The pristine and unexplored South of the Maldives is now finally within a striking distance from Male Airport following the launch of a new regional airport, called Kooddoo Airport, in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
From 10th September 2012, domestic carrier Maldivian directly fly twice a day from Male to Kooddoo Airport, in just 45 minutes.
Previously an hour’s flight and 1 hour or more by speedboat were necessary to reach the Atoll resorts, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, The Residence Maldives and Jumeirah Dhevanafushi. The overall journey times is now cut by nearly half.
