Maldives Government announces a new Airport Tax from 2014 July 1st.
Each passenger will have to pay an Airport Tax of 25 USD per person at departure from Male International Airport.
The payment has to be done in Cash ( USD, Maldivian Ruffyas or any currency accepted by the Airport Authorities ).
This new Law was voted this last May, 05th.
Until today, a 12 USD tax was already included in Airline Tickets.
NOTE : Passengers with previously purchased tickets will have to pay a difference of 13 USD at the Airport before living.
Apart from Diplomats and Government Officials, are exempted from this Tax :
– Infant under 2 years old.
– Passengers staying in Transit for maximum 24 hours.
Any new issued ticket should now have this new 25 USD tax included.
My advice :
– Please check with your travel agent and / or your Airline Company before booking in order to be fully informed before you go,
and…
– Keep some Cash ! ( Make the maths for a family of 4…)
