We are back from the newly refurbished Gili Lankanfushi Maldives which reopened on Dec 01st 2019 after 1 year with a new design and amazing new villas.
We are so excited to give you some fresh news and show you the new photos we just did at the resort !

Gili Lankanfushi Maldives, celebrated as one of the world’s most beautiful resorts and often voted in the yearly TOP 10 Best Maldives Resorts, has recently reopened its doors and, yes, we are Dreaming again.

For those who want to know what has exactly changed at Gili Lankanfushi during this year off-the-grids ( a few news were released ), I will review in detail what’s new at the resort and what has changed.

Firstly, let me tell you that the resort is sumptuous. It was before An Incredible Island beyond any words and expectations today, it is even better.
You are wondering if that possible. The answer is : YES. Let me prove it to you.
What has changed ?
Big changes have mostly happened around and inside the Villas.
Apart from new villa categories, all villas have been refurbished, refreshed and re-decorated.
The main restaurant and the underground Wine Cellar have changed too.
The resort also got a massive upgrade in the fire and rescue system everywhere on the island to prevent any kind of new incident.
For the rest you will find your way back. It is the same, we felt at home.

From afar nothing has changed
Look at these 2 aerial photos of Jetty number 3 before and after the renovation for example, the landscapes look very familiar, almost identical.
Take advantage to note the differences in the lagoon colors and shades due to the tides and sand movements.

The brand new happening is the creation of Pools in some Villas and the creation of totally new villas.
Note : until now, only the Private Reserve had a pool.
Globally, Gili Lankanfushi villas are still the ones we know and love, with their fully openable doors on the outside, their chic rustic style, their noble materials and beautiful colours and their legendary bathrooms.
The private water gardens and their corals in front of the villas have grown and, Oh My…more net hammocks have been installed on villa decks !

Another new feature that we absolutely love ( who wouldn’t ? ) is the several new lagoon hammocks that have been settled in front of some Villas, like the Gili Lagoon Villas, the Gili Lagoon Residence or the Family Villa.
New ( and gorgeous bathrooms ) are also featured in the new villas. The main difference resides in the bathtub with its elegant curves and set up.

Besides, all Villas have new furniture and equipments added and/or upgraded Amongst them, new Flat Tv’s screens ( some are hidden and pop-up on command ), new sound systems, new furnitures, new decoration items and new daybeds on their rooftops for Dreamier nights under the stars !
A Quick INTRO to the New Kashiveli Restaurant and Underground Wine Cellar
Kashiveli, the main restaurant and place to be for the breakfast and dinners, located on the beach, has also been totally changed.
Let me tell you that Breakfasts are better than EVER.
The interior is larger to allow more tables and space inside. The tables on the beach are still there waiting for you…
Rest assured, the view from Kashiveli’s Beach tables is the same !
The underground wine cellar has been entirely rebuilt and redesigned with wooden walls and ceramic tiled floors.
Cheeses, cold cuts, home-made chocolates and other delicacies, that were before underground, are now upstairs at direct reach for the guests, close to the buffet, in a special room protected by glass doors.
We’ll come back closer later on on Kashiveli and the wine cellar, after presenting you first what you are all waiting for : The New Villas !

Gili Lankanfushi has now 10 categories of Villas and Residences, including the Private Reserve compared with 4 before.
Apart from this new choice, the resort is now featuring big infinity pools in several categories.

2 Family Villas With Pool
The Two Bedroom Family Villas With Pool are located at the very end of Jetty Number 2, where the Residences number 32 and 33 used to be.
Both villas have fantastic views on the Sunrise.
The villas cover an extensive area of 382 sqm and feature a spacious en suite master bedroom, an en suite guest room, an L-shaped swimming pool, a private rooftop terrace, a family room at the far end of the villa and a very large outside deck.
The family Villa Master Bedroom has a superb view on the Pool and the lagoon.
The villa living area embodies the resort philosophy and concept : beautiful woods ( mostly recycled excepted for the floor and ceilings ), clear colours and the horizon at a reach with fully openable doors all around.
The One en suite guest room stands apart, at the end of the large walkway, close to the pool.

1 Family Villa
Located at the extremity of Jetty number 3, facing the 3 Palm Island, the Two Bedroom Family Villa comes in 1 unit and faces the Sunset.
Covering 350 sqm, the spacious Villa has the same feature as the Family Villas With Pool with some minor differences excepted that it has no pool, just in case you don’t follow the title 🙂 .
The Family Villa offers the same concept : 1 Master Bedroom, a guest room and a large dining area.
The differences : the villa boasts a hammock perched in the lagoon.
The One en suite guest room has an indoor jacuzzi. The villa also features a private gym room and a steam room.

2 Residences With Pool
Covering a total area of 374 sqm, the Residences With Pool are located at the end of Jetty 1 and 2. Completely private they boast a 24 sqm Pool on the large deck and a big hammock net suspended above the shallow lagoon.
The large living area faces the main deck. The Master is located on the side of the villa, just like before.
Their design offer a wide air conditioned living room convertible in a second bedroom, a glass bottom floor, a kitchenette and an additional television.
The Master Bedroom has a new TV system that allows to hide the flat screen inside an elegant tailor made furniture. Facing the bed, the screen doesn’t interfere with the view around and pop ups on command.

1 Gili Lagoon Residence
The Gili Lagoon Residence, located at the end of Jetty 3, is a typical Gili Lankanfushi Residence but entirely lifted-up. The 250 sqm beautiful Residence boasts a deck with sun loungers, a glass table and a glass bottom in the living area. A lagoon hammock stands in their water garden.

5 Gili Lagoon Villas
The Gili Lagoon Villas are also located on Jetty, close to the Gili Lagoon Residences. Offering views on the Sunset, they offer a generous space of 210 sqm. Their feature is identical to the other Villas and offer a deck with sun beds and hammocks nets.

6 villa Suites With Pool
The Villa Suites with Pool are located at the end of Jetty 1 and Jetty 2.
Totally new, they offer 264 sqm living area and a big infinity pool. Dotted with 1 master bedroom, they offer a large living room with pool views.
Besides the pool, the sundeck area also features hammock nets suspended above the lagoon.

2 Residences
The residences are very similar to the Residences with pool. Located at the very end of Jetty 1, they offer a wide view on the horizon and feature a smaller deck with 2 big hammock nets suspended overwater.

Kashiveli Restaurant
Kashiveli, the main restaurant located on the beach for breakfasts and dinners is now bigger on the inside. The space, the decoration and concept have totally changed as you can on this photo.
More open and bright, the buffet looks even more tempting.

We absolutely loved the new way the Ayurvedic Elixirs are now presented.
We never miss the opportunity to drink little magical bottle each morning to REJUVENATE – DETOXICATE – DESTRESS. TO FEEL GOOD. They are amazing.
Drink them when you stay at Gili Lankanfushi !
Detail on the ayurvedic Elixirs proposed at breakfast. The little cute and super healthy littles bottles are now ordered in fashion inside the trays of a tailor made APOTHECARY CABINET.

The Room for Cold-Cuts, Cheeses and other Delicacies
Before the reopening, these delicious delicacies were partially located close to the buffet and downstairs in the cellar. Too far for some of us.
They are now presented in a special air conditioned room, on the right side of the buffet, behind glass doors.
We love the idea, everything and more are now at reach !
The underground Wine Cellar
The underground wine cellar has been entirely redesigned. Located under the sand, the cellar is entirely dedicated to wines with 500 bottles and Cuvee’s from around the world.

The white stones that were covering the floor have been replaced by ceramic tiled floors. The walls are entirely ornated with recycled wood. The majestuous Tree trunk table still beautifully stands in the middle of the room.

The floating deck at the main bar is still one of the best place to be in Maldives
The ice-cream man still bikes around to deliver ice creams
Bamboo Bikes are parked randomly on the island because we all have one in our villas !
Maldivians sing and dance the Bodu Beru on the beach during the Maldivian evening
The views from the villa decks are still breathtaking
The bathrooms that haven’t been renovated are still offering the most beautiful views we’ve seen in the Maldives
Picnics are still so Chic and Dreamy
The Coral Project still goes on
Movies are still been screened at the Jungle Cinema
